Glosses[edit]

Could someone add a gloss function in to this and the {{prefix}} template like the suffix template has? Nadando 07:24, 26 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

I just added params gloss1, gloss2, and gloss3 to complement params t1, t2, and t3 which I had added earlier (October 3, 2009).   AugPi 03:15, 25 October 2009 (UTC)Reply

Transliteration[edit]

Could someone added numbered transliteration parameters akin to {{term}}'s tr= parameter, please?  — Raifʻhār Doremítzwr ~ (U · T · C) ~ 16:28, 16 April 2010 (UTC)Reply

Template:confix (usage #2) VS Template:circumfix[edit]

What's the difference? We should draw the line between this two, because they are very alike. From my understanding, a circumfix is a single unit in other words the affixes don't exist (like in Georgian მე- -ე (me- -e) is a circumfix but neither მე- nor -ე exists) or at least their combined use is not a SoP, while in the confix's case the prefix and suffix are standalone affixes, which happened to affix the word simultaneously (a very rare thing in my opinion). This also means that base + -suffix and prefix- + base would most probably (theoretically not always, I agree) also exist. So, if that is true the second example (betegelen) seems to be incorrect. In any case a clear disambiguating explanation is needed. here, here, here and here --Dixtosa (talk) 12:33, 29 August 2014 (UTC)Reply

Category sorting key[edit]

Why does a three-part confix (e.g. {{confix|multi|cultural|ism}}) use the root as the sorting key in the suffix category (e.g. multiculturalism is sorted under C in Category:English words suffixed with -ism)? While using this sortkey in the prefix category makes sense (because all entries in the category begin with the prefix), I don’t see any reason for this behavior in the suffix category. Cf. also multilingualism, where the etymology was specified as {{suffix|multilingual|ism}}, which means it is sorted under M, far from multiculturalism. --Mormegil (talk) 14:38, 24 February 2015 (UTC)Reply

Prefix category sort key bug[edit]

This template doesn't seem to set the sort key properly for the prefix category.

See here: Wiktionary:Feedback#Category:English_words_prefixed_with_mono-

And the resulting mess here: Category:English_words_prefixed_with_mono- at the letter M

Please add this help info to the documentation (which is locked)[edit]

Best to explicitly acknowledge (and explain) the following in the documentation:

This template is used not just for circumfixes per se, such as German ge- + [stem] + -en, but also for English words constructed with multiple affixes, such as antihypertensive, preprocedural, and thousands of others.
