Proto-IE

[edit]

Did you know that we already have a set-up for these entries in our Appendix namespace?

Are you adding entries by bot? If so, please read and comply with our Bot policy before proceding. --EncycloPetey 19:50, 15 September 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hello there. Take a look at the Appendix:List of Proto-Indo-European roots, and also the content of the Category:Proto-Indo-European language. The important things to note is that we always use original script (polytonic Greek for Ancient Greek, Devanagari for Sanskrit, cuneiform for Old Persian and Anatolian languages, etc.), and that the proto-forms are limited to appendix namespace only (this has been voted on) to which one can link from ===Etymology=== section by using template {{proto}}. Also you might wanna check out individual languages policies (e.g. OE is written without diacritics, so one should link to (deprecated template usage) modor not to (deprecated template usage) mōdor). You haven't made any edits to the mainspace, so I'm not sure whether you're here to contribute or just organise knowledge on you userpage, but at any case feel free to ask me or User:Atelaes on the talk page if you have any questions regarding the PIE stuff on Wiktionary that would prevent you from editing. Cheers! --Ivan Štambuk 08:26, 16 September 2008 (UTC)Reply
