Etymology[edit]
Brand name. From Vi (of unknown origin) + cod- (in codeine) + -in.[1] One theory is that Vi is from the Roman numeral VI, as the component hydrocodone is approximately 6 times as potent as codeine.[2]

Vicodin (countable and uncountable, plural Vicodins)
- (pharmacology) A brand name for an analgesic combination drug containing hydrocodone and paracetamol, often used for recreational purposes.
