Etymology[edit]

anthropo- +‎ -geny, attested 1839. As it were from a Greek *ἀνθρωπογένεια (*anthrōpogéneia), hypothetical abstract noun of ἀνθρωπογενής (anthrōpogenḗs, born of man).
