bassorin (usually uncountable, plural bassorins)

  1. (organic chemistry) An amylose that is a constituent part of a species of gum from Basra ( <= Bassora), tragacanth, and some gum resins.
    • 1839, Andrew Ure, A Dictionary of Arts, Manufactures, and Mines:
      The Agaricus fætens, according to Taci, contains mannite, water, pectic acid, fibrin, bassorin, ligneons and colouring matter
