Etymology[edit]

Borrowed from Serbo-Croatian ćevapi / ћевапи, from Ottoman Turkish كباب (kebâp), from Arabic كَبَاب (kabāb) or Persian کباب (kabâb, fried meat). Doublet of kebab.
