Borrowed from Classical Nahuatl xoquializtli (“sulfurous odor”), from xotl (“foot”) and iyayaliztli (“stink”).[1]

- Un trapeador sucio, un trapo húmedo oloroso, pero sobre todo un plato o vajilla que no se lavó bien, todo ello produce un olor a "choquía".
- A dirty mop, a smelly damp cloth, but above all a plate or dish which wasn't washed well, all that produces a "choquía" smell.
