From Proto-Celtic *kaikos (blind), from Proto-Indo-European *káykos (one-eyed). Cognate with Cornish koeg (empty), Irish caoch, Latin caecus (blind), Gothic 𐌷𐌰𐌹𐌷𐍃 (haihs, one-eyed).
