Welsh[edit]

Etymology[edit]

Literally to come with.

Verb[edit]

dod â (first-person singular present dof â)

  1. (irregular, idiomatic) to bring, bring along
Roedd Tom wedi dod â phecyn bwyd
Tom had brought a packed lunch

Usage notes[edit]

  • â technically causes an aspirate mutation, however, the aspirate mutation is applied inconsistently in spoken and informal written Welsh.
  • â becomes ag before vowels.
