English[edit]

Adjective[edit]

fauxnetic (comparative more fauxnetic, superlative most fauxnetic)

  1. Jocular spelling of phonetic, referring to respelling systems which do not adequately indicate pronunciation. (See faux.)
    • (Language Log, "A pretentious and altogether lamentable affectation", 2010 December 28)[1]
George H.'s use of "ah" is, strictly speaking, erroneous, although we can't expect much more from a fauxnetic transcription.
