former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
Definition from Wiktionary, the free dictionary
(the) former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia
- A provisional designation (pending resolution of a naming dispute with Greece) used by many international organizations of the Republic of Macedonia, a country on the Balkan Peninsula, abbreviated FYROM.
The word "former" (and the definite article "the" if used) are explictly and intentionally in lower case, as this is a "provisional designation" and not the present or intended name of the state.
