Borrowed from Korean 해금(奚琴) (haegeum). Doublet of xiqin.

haegeum (plural haegeum)

  1. (music) A musical instrument (chordophone) with a hollow soundbox, two strings made from silk, and a rod-like neck, of traditional Korean origin.
