hippoboscid (plural hippoboscids)
- Any of the species in the Hippoboscidae family of parasitic flies.
- 2005, M. J. Lehane, The Biology of Blood-Sucking in Insects[1], page 252:
- Various species of hippoboscid will attack humans, and the bite of the pigeon fly, Pseudolynchia canariensis, is said to be painful. Apart from the sheep ked, hippoboscids are of little importance to humans.
