  1. (medicine, chiefly serotherapy) Any of several medical regimens that introduce hormones to the body to replace lost or unavailable ones.
    Male-to-female transsexuals often undergo hormone replacement therapy using estrogens and antiandrogens.
    Elderly women can use estrogenic hormone replacement therapy to alleviate postmenopausal symptoms.
