From Proto-Cariban *apô. The -lly ending continues the Proto-Cariban possessed suffix *-rɨ. Compare Apalaí apo, Kari'na apo, Trió apë, Wayana apë, Waiwai apo, Akawaio apö, Pemon apue, Ye'kwana ajö.
