Etymology[edit]

From Old Swedish klæþi, from Old Norse klæði, borrowed from Old Frisian klāth, klēth or Old English clāþ, clǣþ, from Proto-Germanic *klaiþą (garment). Cognate with English cloth and German Kleid.
