From Old Swedish mylna, mölna, mölla, from Middle Low German molne, molle (cf. German Mühle, Danish mølle, Icelandic mylna). From Late Latin molina, derivation of earlier mola (mill), from Proto-Indo-European *melh₂- (to grind, crush).
