- An instrument used to measure the surface topography of small objects.
- 1978, The United States patents quarterly, volume 196, page 18:
- More significantly, it has shown that the surface of dielectric paper can be measured with acceptable precision by use of a microtopographer. This instrument may be used to trace over and record the surface of the paper.
