  1. (intransitive, chiefly _US) To fail to pronounce, utter, or speak correctly
    He didn't say you were 'tired.' He said you were 'fired.' He misspoke or you misheard.
  2. (intransitive, obsolete) To speak insultingly or disrespectfully.
