navigation mesh (plural navigation meshes)

  1. (computing) A data structure used in artificial intelligence applications to aid agents in pathfinding through large spaces. It is a collection of two-dimensional convex polygons.
    We used a navigation mesh to describe the paths that can be followed by computer-controlled characters in our video game.
