negation (countable and uncountable; plural negations)

  1. (uncountable) The act of negating something.
  2. (countable) A denial or contradiction.
  3. (logic, countable) A proposition that is true if and only if another one is false; a proposition resulting from the application to another proposition of the logical operation "not".
  4. (logic) The logical operation which obtains such (negated) propositions.
