overhook (plural overhooks)

  1. (wrestling, martial arts) A clinch hold performed by putting an arm over the opponent's arm, and encircling the opponent's arm or upper body.

  1. (wrestling, martial arts, transitive) To use such a hold upon.
    • 2004, Mark Hatmaker, No Holds Barred Fighting: Savage Strikes, page 128:
Overhook one of his arms just above the elbow (here the right arm overhooks the opponent's left arm).
