1. (medicine) A hypertrophic skin disorder characterised by rough, dry, thickened skin.
   • 1868, Erasmus Wilson, On diseases of the skin:

     As an inordinate production of epidermis dependent on hypertrophy of the papillæ of the skin, it has a title to a place in this group, while its principal character, namly, that of thickening and condensation of the skin, seems to point to pachylosis (καχὸς, crassitudo) as a fitting description.

     The majority of them had capillaries dilatation with pigmentation spots. The skin texture of some patients had subtle changes like pachylosis and deepened dermatoglyph, which were invisible for naked eyes.
