Declension[edit]

rzeczpospolita (rzecz f noun – "thing", pospolita adj. – "common") is a calque translation of the Latin res publica ("public affair"). It may be declined either as two separate words or as one word (adjective). The former declension is often used to refer to the State, the latter – to the newspaper.
