Etymology[edit]

sarco- +‎ -lite, from Ancient Greek σάρξ (sárx, flesh) for its reddish fleshy color, and λίθος (líthos, stone) for being a mineral.

sarcolite (usually uncountable, plural sarcolites)

  1. (mineralogy) A tetragonal-dipyramidal mineral containing aluminum, calcium, fluorine, oxygen, silicon, and sodium.
