Etymology[edit]

From Ottoman Turkish یایمق (yaymak, to spread), from Proto-Turkic *yād- (to spread).[1] Cognate with Old Turkic [script needed] (yād-, to spread), Kyrgyz жаюу (jayuu, to spread), Uzbek yoymoq (to spread).
