Etymology[edit]

From локша́ (lokšá), dialectal form of лапша́ (lapšá, noodles). Compare the expression ве́шать лапшу́ на́ уши (véšatʹ lapšú ná uši, to tell falsehoods), literally “to hang noodles upon one’s ears”.
