Etymology

    Inherited from Proto-Indo-European *gʷow-sth₂-ó-, from *gʷṓws (cow) + *steh₂- (to stand). By surface analysis, गो (go) +‎ स्थ (stha). Cognate with Celtiberian boustom (cow-house).
