Hindi[edit]
Etymology[edit]
Probably borrowed from Gujarati લફડો (laphḍo). Compare Marathi लफडे (laphḍe).
A folk etymology suggests it is borrowed from French l’affaire, which is very unlikely.

लफड़ा • (laphṛā) m (Urdu spelling لپھڑا)
