From Sanskrit रोचन (rocana, “enlightening, illuminating, irradiating; bright, splendid, beautiful, lovely, pleasing, agreeable”) or Pali rocana (“liking; choice; shining”). Cognate with Khmer រោចន (roŭchnô), រោចនៈ (roocnĕəʼ).
