First attested in the Nammyeongjip eonhae (南明集諺解 / 남명집언해), 1482, as Middle Korean ᄠᅥ〮히다〮 (Yale: ptéhì-tá).

Pronunciation[edit]

  • Phonetic hangul: [(ː)]
    • Though still prescribed in Standard Korean, most speakers in both Koreas no longer distinguish vowel length.
