Etymology[edit]

From Proto-Turkic *čeček (flower)[1]. Cognate to Turkish çiçek, Tatar чәчәк (çäçäq), Southern Altai чечек (čeček), Kazakh шешек (şeşek), Uzbek chechak, Uyghur چېچەك(chëchek), Crimean Tatar çiçek, Chuvash чечек (čeček), Chechen зезаг (zezag).
