Inherited from Old Anatolian Turkish چُوقْ (çoq), چوخ (çoḫ), from Proto-Turkic *čok (many, very; to gather, multiply).

Cognate with Turkish çok, Gagauz çok, Crimean Tatar çoq, etc.
