- (superscript ⟨⟩) [ɤ]-coloring or a weak, fleeting, epenthetic or echo [ɤ].
Sometimes mistaken for or replaced with the velar consonant letter Latin gamma (ɣ), which unlike ɤ drops below the baseline. The old 'baby gamma' form was changed to the modern form to help avoid such confusion.
