Translingual[edit]
Etymology[edit]
From a small-cap Ɐ.
Pronunciation[edit]
IPA (file)
Symbol[edit]
ɤ
- (IPA) a close-mid back unrounded vowel.
- (superscript ⟨𐞑⟩) [ɤ]-coloring or a weak, fleeting, epenthetic or echo [ɤ].
Usage notes[edit]
Sometimes mistaken for or replaced with the velar consonant letter Latin gamma (ɣ), which unlike ɤ drops below the baseline. The old 'baby gamma' form was changed to the modern form to help avoid such confusion.
