Etymology

From Αἴγυπτος (Aíguptos, Egypt) +‎ -ιος (-ios, adjective suffix). Cognate to Mycenaean Greek 𐁁𐀓𐀠𐀴𐀍 (ai-ku-pi-ti-jo).
