[edit]Learnedly, from Hellenistic Koine Greek ἀναπόσβεστος (anapósbestos, “inextinguishable”). By surface analysis, αν- (an-, privative) + αποσβεσ- (aposves-, “to erase, amortize”) + -τος (-tos), from ἀποσβέννῡμι (aposbénnūmi, “to extinguish”).
