Ancient Greek

Etymology

Has been connected with Proto-Germanic *klainiz (shining), but Beekes finds this comparison uncertain. It has also been compared with γαλήνη (galḗnē, calm weather) and γλαινοί (glainoí, ornaments of head-bands). If this hypothesis be true, then the world would be of Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pregrc" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. origin.
