Ancient Greek

Etymology

From Proto-Indo-European *gley- (to stick; to spread, to smear). Cognate with γλίνη (glínē), γλοιός (gloiós), Latin gluten, Proto-Germanic *klajjaz and Lithuanian glitùs.
