From Ancient Greek Ἑλληνιστής (Hellēnistḗs), from ἑλληνίζω (hellēnízō, to speak Greek).

ελληνιστής (ellinistísm (plural ελληνιστές, feminine ελληνίστρια)

  1. a person studying Ancient and Hellenistic Greek literature and language.
  2. a writer, especially a Jewish or non-Greek one, of the Hellenistic period.
