Etymology[edit]

From *εὖθαρ (*eûthar), compare εὐθύς (euthús) ~ *εἰθύς (*eithús) ~ ἰθῠ́ς (ithús, straight), from Proto-Indo-European *Hyewdʰ-dh-r̥ from the root *Hyewdʰ-. Maybe directly cognate to Latin iubar (dawning light).
