Reborrowing from Ottoman Turkish لیمان (liman) + (-i)[1], (the Medieval Byzantine form λιμεώνας or λιμνιώνας[2], diminutive λιμενάρι[3]) from Hellenistic Koine Greek λῐμένιον, diminutive of the ancient λῐμήν (limḗn). Also see λειμών (leimṓn).[4]
