Ancient Greek
[edit]Etymology
[edit]It may continue *λουκ-ιον (*louk-ion) as a derivative of a root noun, as is seen in Latin lūx (“light”), if from Proto-Indo-European *lewk- (“white; light; bright”). Compare also Latin lūcus (“grove, wood”), from the same source. The etymology remains highly improbable, though.
