Etymology

Prefixed with προ- (pro-, in front), with the second element continuing a Proto-Indo-European *seyHk- (to stretch forth the hand), whence also ἵκω (híkō, to come, reach) and Lithuanian síekti, síekiu (to reach out), hence originally reaching out (of the hand), presentation.[1]
