Ancient Greek

Etymology

Traditionally derived from σκάλλω (skállō, to stir up, hoe). However, Beekes suggests a Lua error in Module:parameters at line 290: Parameter 2 should be a valid language, etymology language or family code; the value "pregrc" is not valid. See WT:LOL, WT:LOL/E and WT:LOF. origin in view of the suffix common to other animal names, such as δρύοψ (drúops), κόρνοψ (kórnops), κώνωψ (kṓnōps) and πάρνοψ (párnops).
