Etymology[edit]
From ταῦρος (taûros, “bull”) and κάθαψις (káthapsis), a rare abstract noun composed of κατα (kata, “across”) and ἅπτομαι (háptomai, “touch, reach”); thus, literally, "touching of the bull".
