Etymology

From Proto-Slavic *Bělъgordъ. Composed of Ekavian Serbo-Croatian бе̏о (white) (from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Slavic *bělъ) and гра̑д (city) (from (deprecated template usage) [etyl] Proto-Slavic *gordъ).
