Etymology[edit]

From ву (vu, water). The latter element -ко ultimately derives from Proto-Permic *kad, from Proto-Uralic *kota (hut, tent). Compare with Komi-Zyrian вичко (vićko, church) and also Udmurt корка (korka, house).
