Cognate with Karakhanid [script needed] (yeznä, “elder sister's husband”); Tatar җизнә (ciznä), җизни (cizni), Kazakh жезде (jezde), Kyrgyz жезде (jezde), Southern Altai јесте (ǰeste), Uzbek yezna, Azerbaijani yeznə, Khakas чисте (çiste), Tuvan честе (çeste, “elder sister's husband”).
