Etymology

Inherited from Old Ruthenian золотый (zolotyj).[1] By surface analysis, зо́лата (zólata) +‎ -ы́ (). Cognate of Russian золото́й (zolotój), Ukrainian золоти́й (zolotýj). Doublet of зло́ты (zlóty).
