Borrowed from Old Church Slavonic лицемѣръ (liceměrŭ), from Proto-Slavic *lice and *-měnъ[1] (by surface analysis, лице́ (lycé, face) +‎ міня́ти (minjáty, to change)[2]). Compare Russian лицеме́р (licemér).
